At the beginning of 2020, the planet was hit by a highly contagious and extremely deadly virus. COVID-19 threatened every aspect of Canadians’ lives, from their ability to keep their families safe and healthy to their ability to put food on the table.
Through it all, PIPSC members were there – even as we struggled with the impacts the pandemic was having on our own lives.
We worked steadily to roll out CERB benefits, develop mass testing methods, develop life-saving vaccines, and manage risky outbreaks.
Together we rose to this challenge, like we rise to every challenge because we’re proud public service professionals and that’s what we do.
We did all this while navigating faulty pay systems and salaries that aren’t keeping up with skyrocketing inflation.
We have supported this government at every turn, but they continue to take us for granted.
Enough is enough.
We are asking the employer to demonstrate a commitment to keep the public service on pace with the changing times – and allow it to keep delivering excellence to Canadians.
Our requests are not unreasonable, or unrealistic. We are looking for respect and recognition for our hard work.
Without these gains, the public service risks falling behind.
We are asking for the pay we deserve, the leave we need, and the flexibility to keep giving our best. We’re asking for a better deal.
But we have to be ready to fight for it. The experience of other federal public service unions at the table tells us it won’t be easy. This government will continue to try to short-change us.
